Drones

In the article "Invasion of the Drones" Patricia Smith talks about drones and their pros and cons. She does however have a mainly anti drone bias in her article. One example is in the first section of her article called Privacy she talks about how drones and there cameras can make it so people's privacy is invaded. One way she dose this is by telling the story of an Australian woman who was sun bathing topless in the privacy of her back yard. Her privacy was broken though when a drone from a real estate agent took pictures of her house. Safety was another con of drones Patricia addressed in section two of her article. She does this by talking about how drones can interfere in things such as airports, and how there fears that one day a drone could get sucked into the engine of an airplane. Finally she discusses how drones are in warfare in the third section of the article. She discussed how drones used in wars can kill innocent lives in the process of killing the enemies. It also says how the pilots don't even feel it because it can have the effect of playing a video game and it's not like there really there.
There are some key themes in the article. One is the question, is it really logical to own a drone? I mean for companies there is some logic such as they need pictures from an arial view. But for an average guy to own a device that can look around and invade the privacy and safety of hundreds or even thousands in just plain out stupid. Therefor people are soon going to need a license to pilot a drone. Another thing to question is it ethical to pilot a drone. When it comes to war, although it is the most efficient/safe method to locate and take out the enemies, it also makes many innocent people die in the process. In the end this is some what worth it, even though it kills innocent people this sacrifice is essential for warfare and it also save lives of troops because it means they don't have to risk there lives.
I believe that drones are a new invention that will take off in the future. It has a potential for the average guy as being a fun way to look around you home town or wherever you are from the skies, for companies it makes new and inventive ways to do business, for example Dominoes is testing doing pizza deliveries by making drones deliver the food instead of humans. But people should real need to go through much more of challenge, such as a background check and a pilot test to make sure your fit for flying.
